Running Bio: 
Year I began running: 1983
Favorite Running Shoe: New Balance 991 
Favorite running surface: Dirt trails.
Marathons completed: Charlotte N.C. Marathon, Virginia Beach Shamrock Marathon, Rota Spain Marathon, Sevilla Spain Marathon, Naples Italy Marathon, Venice Italy Marathon.
Ultramarathons completed: Spanish Foreign Legion 101K Ronda, Spain. El Rocio Spain 50K. 
Typical training week: Running: 40-50 miles along the beach, Swimming: 1-mile swim 2x a week, Cycling: whenever I can fit it in, and strength training 1 hour daily. 
Things I like most about running: The people and the adventure of the great outdoors
What got me started running: Challenge.
Why I run: Adventure, serenity, challenge.
Short-term goals: Run today. 
Long-term goals: Run for life!

Marathon PR: 3:44. 
Other: I enjoy competing in sprint and olympic distance triathlons and have won the masters division on two occassions. I am a member of the Dead Runners Society (see my Related Links page).
Training Philosophy: An hour a day keeps the doctor away. My slow and easy hour road therapy also keeps the mind tranquil.

My Background

My first marathon was in 1988, first triathlon 1991 and my first ultramarathon (101K) was in 1998.  

I live in southern Spain where the mild climate makes for excellent year round running and triathlon training.
